The End of a Year Marks the Start of Another

It’s crazy how much things can change over time; especially in high school.  In my freshman and sophomore years I didn’t do much besides school work, and I realized how fast high school was actually passing by, so I made a goal this school year to stop missing opportunities.  I took a leap into the unknown, singing up for the volunteering club KIWIN’S, and never looked back.  I’ve learned how fun volunteering can be with the company of familiar faces and how important it is to help out others and the community.  The club has built their own positive community and I love being in it.  It’s made me become a better person and helps me to be more enthusiastic towards school, because I know that during the weekends it will be rewarding to go to the events.  I’m also starting to come out of my shell that I’ve been living in for far too long and talking to more people.  (Here’s some inspiration: Don’t be afraid to try new things, because you never know what something could be like until you try it out.  If not, in the future you’ll regret all the opportunities that you missed).

As this marks my first blog post of the new year, I’ll leave you with a list of some of my New Year’s Resolutions:

Goals for the New Year

  1. To run  four miles around a mile square park without collapsing (I love running, but feel like I can’t complete a lap without needing to walk right now)
  2. To put more effort into school, stop procrastinating, and study for the SAT
  3. To be the best person I can be / to be a good, reliable friend 24/7
  4. To decide which University of  California I want to attend (I’m caught choosing between UCD, UCSD, or UCI at the moment)
  5. To spend more time volunteering in KIWIN’S
  6. To get a summer job (at Alberson’s?)
